Smoke alarm saves Hampton family from house fire

back to list
20 Sep 2015
A family of four safely escaped a Hampton house fire thanks to a smoke alarm this morning.

Firefighters were called to the Mills Street home about 3.35am.
The property involved was a large Californian Bungalow style weatherboard house.
Due to the intensity of the fire, crews in breathing apparatus attacked the fire from the outside and worked to protect the two adjoining houses.
A cause for the fire is yet to be determined.
A working smoke alarm has been credited with notifying the occupants of the fire and allowing them time to escape.
The fire has taken an hour to bring under control.
