12 May 2017
MFB firefighters are currently on scene following a gas leak in South Yarra this morning.

Crews arrived on scene in Chapel Street after receiving a Triple Zero (000) call alerting them to a gas line rupture around 9.45am.

On arrival, crews found that a 250mm high pressure gas supply line had been damaged during works in Garden Street.

Firefighters closed down the affected area, including the nearby Jam Factory and assisted in the evacuation of a number of people as a safety precaution.

Crews are working to disperse the gas cloud until the supply line can be isolated.
