Sprinkler system helps fireys douse suspicious unit fire

back to list
20 Mar 2014
A small fire caused the activation of a sprinkler system in a block of units in Fitzroy this morning.

Fire crews were called to the building on Alma St, Fitzroy, about 6.30am.

The sprinkler quickly contained the fire to the point of origin, which ensured the safety of residents and minimised damage to the building.

Had there been no working sprinkler, the potential for the small fire to quickly spread would have been high.

There were no evacuations and no reports of injuries.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and police will be investigating.
