Sprinklers help douse Box Hill fire

back to list
27 May 2019
MFB firefighters are on scene in Box Hill where a fire has occurred at a paper manufacturing plant.

Crews were called to the Aisla Street address at 1.30pm after an automatic fire alarm was triggered.

The building's sprinler system had activated and this successfully contained the fire until firefighters' arrival.

Crews worked quickly to isolate the power and cut through the metal roof to attack the flames.

They managed to get the fire under control within an hour of arrival.

No one was injured in the incident.

At this early stage, it's believed the fire may have been sparked by an electrical fault in the building's large ceiling exhaust fans.
