Surrey Hills Unit Fire

Fire has destroyed a family home and its contents this morning. The single storey rear brick unit was fully engulfed with fire.

One of a block of two units adjoined by a garage, MFB firefighters worked aggressively in ensuring the fire did not spread into the other unit.

No-one was home at the time of the fire.

The fire took 50 minutes to bring under control.  MFB firefighters will, however, still be involved in firefighting duties for the remainder of the day.

MFB specialist Fire Investigators are attending to investigate the cause which is currently undetermined.

The council building surveyor has been requested to attend to determine whether the property will require demolition.
