MFB firefighters were alerted to a fire at a secondary school in Glen Waverley this morning after a Triple Zero (000) caller raised the alarm just after 3:30am.

Initial crews arrived to the school on Watsons Rd in less than five minutes and were met with smoke and flames issuing from the property.

Firefighters conducted an internal attack on the blaze wearing breathing apparatus and set up preventative measures to stop the fire from spreading.

The quick work of firefighters brought the blaze under control in 17 minutes and limited the damage to only two classrooms.

The cause of the blaze was deemed suspicious and the incident has been handed over to Victoria Police.
