Suspicious Ashburton fire

Five people evacuated following a fire at an Ashburton unit last night.

Firefighters were called to the address on Alamein Avenue just before 10.30pm following calls to Triple Zero (000) by neighbours.

Crews arrived within five minutes to find the top floor unit ablaze with the fire spreading to the roof space.

Luckily, all occupants had safely evacuated.

The fire was under control within 45 minutes.

The incident is being treated as suspicious and Victoria Police will investigate.
