Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a Doncaster home on Friday night.

MFB firefighters arrived just before 10pm, within minutes of receiving the fire call, to find the single storey, brick veneer George Street house fully involved in fire.

Flames were issuing through the roof and it needed to be confirmed that no-one was inside.

A preliminary search by MFB firefighters confirmed that the premises was unoccupied and soon after the partial roof collapse occurred.

The house has been extensively damaged.

No injuries have occurred.

The fire took 35 minutes to bring under control, however, fire crews will remain on scene throughout the night continuing fire duties.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and police are on scene to investigate.
