Suspicious blaze in Heidelberg West

MFB firefighters made quick work to extinguish a house fire that broke out in Heidelberg West early this morning.

Crews were called to the premises at Oriel Road at 2:37am following a Triple Zero (000) call.

The first appliance arrived on scene in three minutes and firefighters were met with the sound of a smoke alarm operating and smoke billowing from the property.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the smoke logged property to ensure no persons were inside. The fire was located and isolated to the front room of the property.

The fire was declared under control in 15 minutes.

There are suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze and the scene has been handed over to Victoria Police to investigate.
