Suspicious blaze in St Albans

MFB attended a suspicious house fire in St Albans this morning.

Firefighters were called to a fire at a single story three-bedroom house East Esplanade just after 10am.  They used aggressive fire fighting to confine the damage to the unattended residence to the rear of the property and an attached garage and shed.

There were 18 firefighters on scene and the blaze was under control on 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire has been deemed suspicious and police are investigating.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.
