Suspicious fire at Malvern chemist.

back to list
21 May 2012
There were fears it might spread to the adjoining buildings, but the quick work of the first arriving MFB crews prevented this.

It appears the fire started at the back of the single storey chemist and took forty minutes to bring under control.

The fire has been deemed to be suspicious and the Victoria Police Arson Squad will investigate.

The damage bill is expected to top four hundred thousand dollars and no injuries were recorded.

A watching duty will continue for some time to dampen down hotspots and to preserve the scene for the Arson Squad. The local council building inspector has been notified to attend to ascertain the structural integrity of the building.
