27 Apr 2018
Firefighters have battled suspicious fires at two abandoned houses across Melbourne overnight.

Crews were called to an empty weatherboard house in Shacknell St, Coburg about 10pm last night and arrived to find it ablaze.

Using agressive firefighting tactics, firefighters were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Approximately four hours later, firefighters on the other side of town at Ringwood were called to a fire at another abandoned house in Greenwood Avenue.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus attacked the fire internally while searching the premises to ensure no one was inside.

The blaze was under control in 45 minutes.

Both fires are being treated as suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.
