Suspicious fire in Ascot Vale

back to list
02 Jul 2018
More than 20 MFB firefighters have contained a blaze at a house on The Parade, Ascot Vale in the early hours of Monday morning, despite the challenge of downed live power lines and an inadequate water supply.

A quick-thinking neighbour called Triple Zero (000) at around 3:30am, reporting that the font of the house and carport was on fire. Thankfully, all of the residents evacuated the home safely.

MFB crews from Ascot Vale and Footscray stations arrived on scene in just 5 minutes and quickly requested additional support to battle the fire.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought hard for almost an hour to bring the fire under control.

The house has sustained significant fire damage to the front, and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the single story residence. Despite the efforts of firefighters, the fire also penetrated the roof space.

It is expected MFB crews emergency services will remain on scene for some time.

The incident is being treated as suspicious and Victoria Police will investigate.
