Six taxis have been destroyed by fire in Tullamarine overnight.

MFB and CFA crews were called to the Derby Street factory in Tullamarine about 12.35am.

The factory appears to be a taxi depot; as a result it is believed the vehicles will be on LPG.

A total of six vehicles were involved in the fire and have been destroyed.

The fire has also affected the front of the factory, damaging the façade and smoke has penetrated the building.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus doused the burning cars and checked the factory for fire and smoke damage.

A search of the building was conducted to locate any occupants, no one was found.

The fire was declared under control after 21 minutes.

The fire has been deemed suspicious and will be investigated by Victoria Police.

Victoria Police were on scene assisting with traffic control and Ambulance Victoria monitored the MFB and CFA Firefighters as they emerged from the fire scene.
