That's not a rooftop spa

15 Oct 2018
Altona residents who ordered a spa got more than they bargained for this afternoon when the spa was delivered onto their neighbour's roof, along with an accompanying crane.

It's believed the crane driver was delivering the spa when the crane toppled, causing the spa to fall onto a nearby roof and into a backyard. The crane then fell onto another neighbour's carport.

MFB attended the scene quickly amid concerns the crane driver might be trapped. Luckily, the middle-aged man was able to safely extricate himself from the fallen crane and appears to have escaped injury.

Several properties sustained minor damage in the incident.

Two other cranes will be deployed to remove the 16 tonne fallen crane and Finley Street is expected to remain closed for several hours while the operation is underway.

WorkSafe, Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria are on scene.
