Police will investigate a suspicious fire at Republica early this morning.

A third St Kilda restaurant on Jacka Boulevard has been damaged by fire overnight.

Crews were called to the St Kilda Sea baths, home to popular restaurant Republica, about 3.47am after a fire alarm was set off.

On arrival crews forced entry, to gain access to the fire in a two-storey restaurant.

The fire was contained to the ground floor with smoke logging throughout.

The scene was handed over to Victoria Police for further investigation as it was deemed suspicious.

The blaze is estimated to have caused $40,000 damage.

Earlier this year MFB crews battled fires at the iconic Donovan's and Stokehouse restaurants also on Jacka Boulevard.
