The scene has been handed over to Victoria Police.

A cause of suspicious fire in a Campbellfield foam factory will be investigated after an early morning blaze.

Firefighters were called to the Gold Star Foam factory on Foden Ave at 5.11am.

Extra trucks were dispatched even before the first truck arrived on scene due to the factory being well alight and flames spotted shooting through the roof.

The tilt slab factory measures approximately 15 by 40 metres.

Crews in breathing apparatus worked to extinguish the fire and protect the adjoining factories.

It took approximately an hour to bring the fire under control.

The fire has been deemed suspicious so will be investigated by Police.
