Thomastown factory up in flames

MFB firefighters have spent the early hours battling a large fire at a soap factory in Thomastown.

Crews arrived on scene at the Macquarie Drive premises about 6am to find the single storey building fully alight.

The fire is not yet under control and it's expected firefighters will remain on scene for some time battling the blaze with aerial appliances and defensive firefighting tactics.
The fire was declared under control just before 9am.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
