The cause of a fire in a tyre-shredding factory will be investigated.

Three people were evacuated after a fire at a Somerton shed this morning.

Crews were called to the Encore Road tyre-shredding complex at 3am.

On arrival they found a fire involving a shed, measuring 10 by 10 metres.

The shed was at the end of a conveyor belt in a tyre-shredding complex.

Additional resources were requested, as the fire was difficult to extinguish due to the nature of the material burning and water supply.

It is believed that the fire involved tyre-shredding machinery but is currently under investigation.

The fire took 30 minutes to bring under control.

Breathing apparatus was in use.
