05 Nov 2014
A three-storey home in South Yarra has been significantly damaged by fire overnight.

Fire crews were called to the blaze in Park Street about 9.20pm after multiple calls to triple-zero for smoke issuing from the roof of a three storey house.

Upon arrival firefighters found the third storey of the house fully involved.

Aggressive well planned internal fire attack stopped the fire from spreading.  There is significant water damage to the second storey along with smoke damage throughout the house.

Occupants were evacuated, with the owner suffering only mild smoke inhalation.

Initial investigation indicates the cause may have been electrical, and whilst the fire is not believed to be suspicious MFB Fire Investigation Unit will attend at daylight to determine cause.

Estimated cost of damage $400,000 - $500,000.
