Townhouses under construction catch fire in Braybrook

A fire took that took hold of a multiple townhouses in Braybrook on Friday morning has been extinguished by firefighters.

MFB firefighters were called to Hancock Cr at 3:49am after several calls were received sighting flames from the property.

Initial crews arrived in less than five minutes to find three double storey units fully alight and the fierce blaze was threatening an adjacent home.

More than 30 firefighters worked quickly to set up hose lines to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.  

The fire was declared under control in less than an hour.

Residents from the surrounding properties were evacuated as a precaution. There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
