10 Jan 2013
Trains had to be stopped as fire crews attended a large blaze in Sunshine this morning.

Firefighters were called to Balfour Avenue in Sunshine at about 1am where they encountered several fires involving cars and tyres in a storage yard.

The incident quickly escalated and developed into a larger fire, requiring extra resources be sent.  In total ten appliances and 35 firefighters attended the scene.

Train services in the area were halted to allow access for firefighters.

It's believed the fires may have been deliberately lit.  Similar fires occurred at this property the night before and are currently being investigated by Victoria Police and fire investigators.

Crews will be on scene this morning.
