Truck fire on West Gate Freeway

A truck driver was taken to hospital following a fiery crash on the West Gate Fwy at Port Melbourne last night.

Firefighters received numerous Triple Zero (000) calls alerting them to the incident and arrived about 2am to find a truck in flames following a collision involving numerous vehicles.

While firefighters fought the blaze, paramedics treated several patients at the scene.

The truck driver was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

Three other people were assessed at the scene.

It took 25 firefighters under 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
