MFB firefighters are currently in West Melbourne where a truck has crashed into a railway bridge.

It’s believed the fruit and vegetable delivery truck struck the bridge on Lloyd Street about 10.15am, rolling onto its side and trapping the driver inside.

Trains and traffic in the area has been stopped while the rescue operation is underway.

MFB has deployed two pumper crews, along with a Rescue Unit and extra heavy rescue equipment.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics are currently treating the driver and Victoria Police members are also on scene.

It’s expected that the delicate rescue operation could take some time.
