Firefighters have evacuated two people following a fire in Port Melbourne last night.

Neighbours raised the alarm about 9.15pm after seeing flames but were unable to pinpoint the exact location.

MFB crews responded and investigated the area, locating a shed fire at the rear of a house on Esplanade West.

They arrived to find the shed in flames and moved quickly to remove occupants from a nearby house to ensure they were safe.

It took 24 firefighters 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

Police and paramedics also attended.
