Two suspicious fires in Mount Waverley overnight.

The first was a two storey house under construction, the second was also under construction and approximately 2km from the fist one. Both were severely damaged by fire.

MFB firefighters arrived on scene to find two residential dwellings at the rear of the property threatened by the fire.  Six residents were evacuated. MFB firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in less than 30 minutes, and successfully protected the neighbouring properties.

MFB fire-fighters will remain on scene throughout the morning to continue to extinguish and maintain a fire duty. 

Another two storey house under construction has been severely damaged by fire this morning. (Approx. 2 kms from an earlier fire in Munro Avenue).

On arrival MFB firefighters found the brick unoccupied dwelling well alight.  Homes on both sides were evacuated as they were threatened by the fire. Numerous residents were evacuated by police and firefighters.

The fire took 25 minutes to bring under control and nearby residents returned to their properties soon after.

The cause of both fires has been deemed suspicious and the police are investigating
