UPDATE: Fire at Little Saigon Market not yet under control

Firefighters are yet to contain a blaze at the Little Saigon Market in Footscray.

The building is multi-tenanted and has received significant damage.

Crews were first called to the blaze at 6.06am. The MFB currently has three Ladder Platforms two ultra large pumpers 12 pumpers and other appliances on scene.

In excess of 60 fire fighters are in attendance at this point in time.

Thick black smoke has been billowing from the fire and residents in the area are advised to close all exterior doors, windows and vents and ensure that heating and cooling systems are turned off. Visit www.emergency.vic.gov.au for updates.

Residents and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
