Vermont Football Club damaged by blaze

Fire severely damaged clubrooms at the Vermont Reserve on Saturday morning.

Several calls were received for the blaze, which occured just after 3am on December 22.

On arrival, firefighters were confronted with a fire on the top floor of a two storey building.
The fire has been contained to a 5x8 metre section on the top floor of the premise and included the time keepers room and the coaching room of the Vermont Football Club.  That area including the contents has been severely damaged by fire.  A portion of the remainder of the top floor has suffered some heat and smoke damage.

MFB firefighters manged to get the fire under control in 16 minutes.  There were 18 firefighters on scene.

The scene has been handed over to the police who will investigate further.
