Fire severely damages West Footscray home

Several calls were received for a fire at the above address around 1.30am.
On arrival, fire fighters were confronted with a fire in the front of a single storey, 25 square weatherboard house.
The occupants of the premises were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms and have escaped uninjured from the burning premises.
The fire has been contained to a front room and a portion of another room before spreading up into the roof area.
One room and contents has been severely damaged by fire while the other room has suffered some fire damage. A section of the roof area at the front has also suffered some fire damage.
The remainder of the premises has been damaged by heat and smoke.
Under control in 12 minutes.
Breathing apparatus in operation.
MFB Fire Investigation Unit in attendance to establish a cause.
