MFB firefighters spent the night battling a large fire at an abandoned house in West Footscray

MFB firefighters spent the night battling a large fire at an abandoned house in West Footscray.
Crews were called to the blaze in Rupert Street about 4.30am following numerous calls to Triple Zero (000).
They arrived to find the single storey weatherboard property fully alight and the flames threatening neighbouring homes.
To protect the adjoining houses, firefighters surrounded the property, attacking the blaze from all sides.
In less than an hour, the fire was under control.
It has now been extinguished.
The cause of the blaze will be investigated.
