MFB crews were dispatched for a reported barbecue gas cylinder on fire.

Firefighters arrived at the home on Los Angeles Court just before 8pm.

They were able to isolate the gas leak and extinguish the fire before it could spread to adjacent timber fencing on the property.

A 25 year old female occupant of unit sustained minor burns to her hand whilst attempting to extinguish the fire, and was treated by AV before being transported to Hospital.

Leaking gas from the ruptured cylinder hose had been ignited by the barbecue.

MFB stated that the public need to regularly check all connections and hoses on gas appliances before use.
