MFB crews have responded to a house fire in Sunshine West following several calls to triple-zero just after 4:15 this morning.

Additional appliances were despatched to the Ridgeway parade residence after information was received that the roof had begun to collapse.

One occupant was believed to be inside the burning home.

On arrival, crews worked hard to located the missing occupant and it was established that everyone had self-evacuated before firefighters arrived.

At the height of the blaze hose lines were set up to protect nearby properties from the radiant heat.

Ambulance Victoria treated a female occupant for smoke inhalation. She was later transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The fire was declared under control in 30 minutes with the single-storey property sustaining severe damage.

MFB appliances will remain on scene for the next few hours.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
