An injured woman was safely brought down from the roof of a motel late Thursday night thanks to the efforts of MFB firefighters.

Firefighters were called to the Glen Waverley motel on Ferntree Gully Road just after 10pm after the woman was unable to self-evacuate due to her injuries.

MFB’s specialist High Angle Rescue Technicians (HART) were deployed to the incident due to women being trapped at height.

Firefighters made their way to the roof of the building alongside Ambulance Victoria Paramedics to stabilise the woman. The retrieval was complex in nature but crews successfully placed the woman in to a stretcher and lowered her down to ground level into the care of Ambulance Victoria.

A total of six MFB appliances including the ladder platform and the HART pod remained at the scene for a number of hours.
