Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants of a house to a fire in their kitchen.

Address: Percy St/Lynch Rd, Fawkner

The fire has originated from the stove area before spreading up into the roof space of a single storey weatherboard house.

Most of the roof area of the premises has been severely damaged by fire while a portion of the remainder of the premises has been damaged by heat, smoke and water.

The occupants of the premises escaped uninjured from the burning building and then notified the Fire Brigade.

Under control in 20 minutes.
