Overview: 

The course is designed for staff in the role of chief warden, or their deputies, in their workplace. Participants need to have completed a recognised wardens training course.

This course is structured in accordance with Australian Standards: Planning for emergencies in
facilities (AS 3745-2010) and Planning for emergencies - Health care facilities (AS 4083-
2010). It gives the participant the relevant information for their role as a Chief Warden, in
developing procedures, staff training requirements and the Chief Warden's duties in the
evacuation of the building in an emergency situation.

Course content:

  • Emergency response and warden’s refresher
  • The Chief Wardens role and responsibilities
  • The acts and regulations relating to the emergency control organisation
  • The management of the evacuation and response team
  • Liaising with emergency services
  • Identifying building essential services
  • Emergency procedures in bomb threat management
  • Strategies in emergency prevention management
  • Communication systems, including emergency warning and intercommunication systems (EWIS)
  • Workshop projects (emergency procedures, training/evacuation audits)
  • Recovery planning
