The course is designed for staff in the role of chief warden, or their deputies, in their workplace. Participants need to have completed a recognised wardens training course.
This course is structured in accordance with Australian Standards: Planning for emergencies in
facilities (AS 3745-2010) and Planning for emergencies - Health care facilities (AS 4083-
2010). It gives the participant the relevant information for their role as a Chief Warden, in
developing procedures, staff training requirements and the Chief Warden's duties in the
evacuation of the building in an emergency situation.
Emergency response and warden’s refresher
The Chief Wardens role and responsibilities
The acts and regulations relating to the emergency control organisation
The management of the evacuation and response team
Liaising with emergency services
Identifying building essential services
Emergency procedures in bomb threat management
Strategies in emergency prevention management
Communication systems, including emergency warning and intercommunication systems (EWIS)
Workshop projects (emergency procedures, training/evacuation audits)
